The Benefits of Functional Medicine, Nutritional Therapy
Our bodies run on the food we eat: it’s our fuel. Making sure our food is right for us, of the best quality and prepared in the right way can have a big effect on how we function in our daily lives, at work, or emotionally in family, or personal situations. Functional Medicine, nutritional therapy, can help find the right balance in the way we approach our lives, ensuring we work to our optimum potential, throughout the day.
Functional Medicine, nutritional therapy advice, helps you to understand and make changes to the kinds of foods you eat and determine food allergies, nutritional deficiencies & toxicity, therefore helping with many conditions that have been medically diagnosed, including Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS), Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS) and Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS).
The above and the following list of health issues, which, as a nutritionist, I have treated, or are currently treating:
- food allergy & food intolerance
- acid reflux
- intraocular pressure [IOP]
- multiple sclerosis (MS)
- thyroid issues
- cardiovascular disease e.g. high BP
- heavy metal toxicity
- weight loss
- inflammatory skin issues e.g. acne, eczema, psoriasis
- non inflammatory, skin issues e.g. cherry anginomas
- inflammatory bowel diseases [IBD's] e.g. Crohn's & colitis
- hormone imbalance e.g.PMS, amenorrhoea, menopausal symptoms
- frequent colds
- hay fever
- mood swings
CNHC Registered Nutritional Therapist
I am a CNHC Registered, full time, Functional Medicine, Nutritional Therapist, which means I am Government & NHS recognised. Being a full time practitioner, means I give you the support you need, to regain your health. I trained at the prestigious Institute for Optimum Nutrition [ION] in London, completing a three year, degree equivalent course & passing yearly exams. Some courses are only one hundred hours, or less, & without exams! ION trained nutritional therapists only require you to attend THREE to FOUR visits, therefore making it very cost effective.
As a full member of The British Association for Applied Nutrition and Nutritional Therapy [BANT], I am bound by their strict code of ethics and practice. I am a member of a BANT Professional Supervision group. The purpose of the group, is to improve, in every way, as a nutritional therapist. I regularly keep updated with the latest research with Continual Professional Development [CPD] events and have given talks on JackFM. I regularly feature live, or have recorded nutritional talks, on the latest topics on BBC Wiltshire radio. I love to keep fit. I am very knowledgeable, regarding sports nutrition, so I keep up to date, by attending top sports nutrition seminars.
My nutritional advise & opinion on current nutritional topics, have appeared several times in the Swindon Advertiser. I also contributed the article 'Seven energy-giving foods' to the November 2016 issue of the UK's top alternative wellbeing magazine, Natural Health.
